Can I change my 401(k) Midyear?

Yes; 401(k) contributions can be changed at anytime within Fidelity’s website.

What is the difference between a 401(k) and a Roth 401(k)?

401(k) contributions are not subject to federal and state income taxes for the year during which you make the contributions. When you withdraw your accumulated contributions plus investment earnings in retirement, you’ll pay ordinary income taxes at the federal and state income tax rates applicable to you at that time.

Roth 401(k) contributions are subject to federal and state income taxes in the year you make the contributions. Withdrawals of accumulated contributions and investment earnings at retirement aren’t subject to income taxes.

Rolling Over Previous Employer 401(k)s

To rollover your previous employer’s 401(k), you will need to contact the previous 401(k) administrator to start the process and potentially Fidelity to complete the process. If you have a previous 401(k) with Fidelity, you can contact Fidelity directly or complete the rollover within netbenefits.com.
